Christian Okoye

“The Nigerian Nightmare”, or Christian Okoye, was known for his ferocious running throughout his six year NFL career. After coming to America to pursue a career as a track and field athlete, the sport of football wasn’t even appealing to him. When Nigeria didn’t select the successful track and field athlete to their Olympic team, Okoye looked for another way to use his talents. Despite not actually enjoying the game, Okoye began his football career at Azusa Pacific University where the terrifying combination of his size and speed landed him in the second round of the 1987 NFL Draft. Okoye broke 1,000 yards in two of his NFL seasons, one of which earned him AFC Offensive Player of the Year honors and a trip to the 1989 Pro-Bowl. By the end of his six seasons, all with the Kansas City Chiefs, Okoye held all the major rushing records in Chiefs history, most of which have since been broken. Since retiring due to injuries and an overall dissatisfaction of the sport, Okoye has made several investments and made multiple appearances on celebrity shows such as Celebrity Boxing and Pros vs. Joes.
