About Chris Ault
Chris Ault played quarterback for the University of Nevada from 1965-1967 and virtually never left. After brief stints as a high school coach and then an assistant at UNLV, Ault took over the head coaching position at his alma mater in 1976. Ault went on to spend 3 stints with the Wolfpack, the latest of which ended with his retirement in 2013. As a head coach, Ault went 233-109-1 and helped take the Wolfpack from Division II to Division 1-AA and in 1992 to Division 1-A. In 2004 when Ault, who was also the athletic director, named himself the head coach for his 3rd and final stint, Ault installed the Pistol Offense that Nevada is known for and helped bring home 2 shares of the WAC Conference Title (2005,2010) and 8 straight bowl appearances from 2004-2012. While serving as coach, Ault was also the athletic director at Nevada from 1986-2004. In 2002, after he had initially retired from coaching in 1994, Ault was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame as a coach.
