About Chris Andersen
Chris Andersens path to the NBA is anything but regular. After being convinced to pick up the sport in high school, Andersen went to Blinn College for one season before dropping out in pursuit of a professional career. Andersen then spent the next few years playing throughout American minor league systems as well as the Chinese Basketball Association. In the inaugural NBA Development Draft in 2001, Andersen was selected with the first overall pick and later that year became the first D-League player to be called up to a professional team. From 2001-2006, Andersen spent time with the Denver Nuggets and the New Orleans Hornets before being suspended for 2 seasons for violating the NBAs drug use policy. After his reinstatement, Andersen signed with the Nuggets where he developed into a quality role player, fighting his way into the starting lineup. Known for his mohawk and the art gallery all over his body, Andersen joined the Miami Heat in 2013 and helped the Heat secure their second straight NBA Championship.
