About Chiney Ogwumike
Born in Texas to Nigerian parents, Chiney Ogwumike found her talent for the game of basketball at a young age, playing alongside her sister, current WNBA player Nneka. Ogwumike had an impressive high school career, winning 2 State Championships and earning a spot on the McDonald's All-American Team, where she scored 24 points and was named the team's MVP. She chose to follow her sister to the University of Stanford where she was a forward for the Cardinals team. She continued to impress at the college level, leading Stanford to 3 Final Four appearances and setting the school and Pac-12 records for career rebounds. Following her college career, Oqwumike was drafted into the WNBA in the 2014 WNBA Draft by the Connecticut Sun where she was named WNBA Rookie of the Year and made her first trip to the WNBA All-Star Game. Ogwumike has also competed internationally for the U.S.A. and has won gold medals in both the U18 & U19 World Championships as well as at the World University Games.
