About Charlie Morton
Charlie Morton is a veteran starting pitcher who plays for the Detroit Tigers. The Atlanta Braves originally selected Morton in the third round of the 2002 MLB Draft. He made his major league debut with the Braves in 2008. Morton joined the Pittsburgh Pirates via trade in 2009. He spent the next seven seasons of his career primarily as a starter in Pittsburgh. On three occasions, Morton posted a sub-4.00 ERA while starting at least 20 games. He was acquired by the Philadelphia Phillies in 2016, but missed most of the season with a torn hamstring. Morton signed with the Astros in 2017 and posted a 14-7 record with a 3.62 ERA. He was instrumental in Houston's World Series victory. Morton pitched five shutout innings in Game 7 of the American League Championship Series. He pitched the final four innings in Game 7 of the World Series and was credited with the win that gave the Astros their first championship.
