Charlie Batch

After a record breaking career at Eastern Michigan University, Charlie Batch stayed in Michigan when he was drafted by the Detroit Lions in the 1998 NFL Draft. Batch began his first few seasons with the Lions as their starter and following the departure of the great Barry Sanders, Batch molded into a hybrid, dual-threat QB as the Lions tried to revive their running game. Batch final seasons with the Lions were plagued by injury, never holding the permanent starting position after 2000. In 2002, Batch signed with his hometown team, Pittsburgh Steelers, where he remained until his retirement in 2012. Batch served in a back-up role for the entirety of his Steelers career, filling in as a starter when needed. He was a Steeler’s fan favorite as a hometown hero and for his charity efforts within the community. Batch was a reliable back-up over the years for the Steelers and won 2 Super Bowls in his 12 seasons with the team.
