Bruce Irvin is a Stone Mountain, Georgia product and played his collegiate football at the University of West Virginia from 2009 to 2012 before joining the Seattle Seahawks in 2012 as a first round pick. After an All-American junior college career at Butler Community College and Mt. San Antonio College he transferred to the University of West Virginia and earned All-Big East and honorable mention All-American honors at the linebacker position. At the 2012 NFL combine Irvin displayed a unique combination of size, power, and speed that earned him a first round selection. Upon signing a four-year, $9.34 million contract with $5.34 guaranteed he joined the Seahawks and became a starting linebacker on their shutdown defense. In 2013 Irvin was one of the key members of the defense that helped lead the Seahawks to a win in Super Bowl XLVIII. During his first two years in the league he compiled 73 tackles, 13 sacks and 2 interceptions. Irving went on to play with the Oakland Raiders and Atlanta Falcons before landing with the Carolina Panthers. He resigned with his original team in 2020.
