About Bruce Bowen
Bruce Bowen was a former NBA standout known as being one of the best defensive players of his era. After his college career at Cal State Fullerton, Bowen went undrafted and had to fight his way to a full-time role in the league. He played in France and in the CBA before signing a ten-day contract with the Miami Heat in 1997. Bowen went on to play for the Boston Celtics and Philadelphia 76ers. He has his breakout season back with the Heat in 2000-01. He played in all 82 games and was named to the NBA All-Defensive Second Team. Bowen signed with the San Antonio Spurs in 2001 and spent the final eight seasons of his career with the franchise. He was named to the All-Defensive first or second team seven more times. Bowen also helped the Spurs win three NBA championships. He was a two-time runner-up for the NBA Defensive Player of the Year award. Bowen retired in 2009. He became an analyst for ESPN and currently is a broadcaster for the Los Angeles Clippers.
