Bobby Grich Biography

Bobby Grich played his entire standout career for just two franchises and he is considered a legend for each. Grich was originally a first round pick of the Baltimore Orioles and debuted for the team in 1970. He was an outstanding fielder throughout his time in the big leagues, setting the fielding percentage record in 1973 and breaking that mark again in 1985. Grich also won four consecutive Gold Goves at second base from 1973-76. He was a six-time All-Star who continued his success when signed by the California Angels in 1977. Grich also starred with the bat on occasion, leading the AL in home runs during the strike-shortened 1981 season. Grich retired after the 1986 season and was the first member of the Angels Hall of Fame. He is also a member of the Baltimore Orioles Hall of Fame.
