Bob Chesney Biography

Bob Chesney, the head football coach at UCLA, is renowned for orchestrating winning football at every level. A Dickinson College alum, he played defensive back before entering coaching. Chesney's career highlights include transforming Salve Regina (2010–2012) with a 24–4 record and two NEFC titles; Assumption (2013–2017), where he posted 41–15 and three conference crowns; and Holy Cross (2018–2023), achieving 44–21, an undefeated 2022 regular season, and three Patriot League Coach of the Year awards. Hired at James Madison in 2023, he led the Dukes to a 9–4 record, followed by 11–1 in 2025, earning Sun Belt Coach of the Year. On December 1, 2025, Chesney agreed to a five-year deal as UCLA's head coach starting in 2026.
