About Ashton Eaton
Ashton Eaton is an American track and field star that won Olympic gold in the decathlon at the 2012 Olympics. Eaton holds world records in the decathlon and heptathlon. He is a two-time medalist at the World Championships, winning decathlon silver in 2011 and gold in 2013. Gold medals in heptathlon came at the 2012 and 2014 World Indoor Championships. The Portland, Oregon native was a track standout in college at the University of Oregon. Eaton won five NCAA titles overall. He became the first man to win three straight NCAA decathlon titles. Eaton won The Bowerman following his senior year, which is given to the top men’s and women’s collegiate track athletes. He did not find the decathlon till late in high school and was lightly recruited even though he won Oregon state titles in the 400 meters and long jump. Eaton still trains out of Eugene for the Oregon Track Elite Club.
