About Aries Merritt
Aries Merritt is a standout track and field star and world record holder. He holds the world record in the 110 meter hurdles, running a time of 12.8 seconds in 2012. Merritt also won the gold medal in that event that year at the Olympics in London. At the 2012 World Indoor Championships, he took home the gold in the 60 meters. A Chicago native, Merritt attended school at the University of Tennessee. He was a seven-time All-American for the Vols and won the NCAA Championship in 110m hurdles in 2006. Merritt finished that 2006 season undefeated in every 55, 60, or 110 meter hurdles race he ran. In high school, he was a USA Today All-USA selection and a Georgia 5A state champion in the 110m hurdles his senior year. Merritt is passionate about helping others and coaches young track athletes in Knoxville, Tennessee.
