About Dave Johnson
Dave Johnson was born in Montana and graduated from Crescent Valley High School in Oregon in 1981. When he was a child he excelled at a multitude of sports and showed interest in several areas of athletics, including baseball, track and field, basketball and boxing. Those varying interests would eventually lead to him becoming one of the top decathletes in the world. After high school he matriculated to Azusa Pacific University in California and began training in the decathlon. Over time he became an Olympic caliber competitor and won a spot on the USA Track and Field Team for the 1992 Barcelona Olympic Games. During those times he proved himself to be one of the best in the world, capturing a bronze medal in his first Olympic games. After his retirement he put the bachelors in psychology and masters in special education degrees that he earned from Azusa Pacific to good use as a teacher and administrator. He’s since joined the Fellowship of Christian Athletes as the director of operations.
