The Erie Times-News is hosting the Best of Varsity Cup awards dinner in June. A highlight of the festivities is going to be a keynote speech from Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker Ryan Shazier. 

The seventh annual event is meant to recognize the top athletes, coaches, teams and athletic programs in District 10. It will be held on June 23rd at the Bayfront Convention Center's Great Hall. 

Logistics Plus is hosting the event. Individual tickets are currently available and they cost $50. 

Shazier has played three seasons with the Steelers after being a first round pick in 2014 NFL Draft. Last season, he finished second on the team with 87 tackles and led the squad with three interceptions and three forced fumbles. 

For Shazier's standout play, he was named to his first Pro Bowl. During all three years in Pittsburgh, he has been a part of a playoff team. 

While at Ohio State, Shazier was chosen as a first-team All-American and first-team All-Big Ten pick. He led the Big Ten with 143 tackles as a junior before declaring for the draft.
