Bay Area Sports Legends Joe Montana and Matt Williams Host Big Game Big Give Before Super Bowl 50

There will be many events leading up to Super Bowl 50, but one of the largest features two athletes that had some of their best moments in San Francisco.  Four-time Super Bowl champion Joe Montana and former All-Star third baseman Matt Williams are hosting Big Game Big Give 2016.

The fundraiser will be held on Saturday and it benefits The Giving Back Fund.  This is the sixth annual event and it will be held at a private estate in Atherton, California.

Last year's event was also hosted by Williams and it raised a Super Bowl charity record of over $1 million.  Tickets are offered for $3000 on an invitation-only basis.

Montana is probably the most significant athlete in the history of the Bay Area.  He played 12 of his 14 seasons with the San Francisco 49ers and was a three-time Super Bowl MVP.

Montana went to eight Pro Bowls and was a three-time first-team All-Pro pick.  In 2000, he was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

Williams spent almost the first decade of his career with the San Francisco Giants and led the National League in home runs in 1994 and RBI in 1990.  During his career, he was named to five All-Star teams, won four Gold Gloves and four Silver Slugger Awards.

Williams had the unique distinction of playing in the World Series with three different franchises and finally won a championship with the Arizona Diamondbacks in 2001.  He most recently served as manager of the Washington Nationals for the last two seasons and is currently a coach with the Diamondbacks.
