Baseball Icon Alex Rodriguez to Keynote Winnipeg Sports Dinner

One of America's most popular sports personalities is making a trip north of the border this summer. Baseball icon Alex Rodriguez will keynote the always-popular Winnipeg Sports Dinner June 18.

The event has welcomed a who's who of athletes over the years, including names like Eli Manning, Mike Ditka and Dan Marino. It is held annually by the Rady Jewish Community Centre and held at the RBC Convention Center.

This is the 47th time the dinner will be held and it benefits a whole range of programs at the JCC. Tickets are already on sale and more information can be found on their website.

Rodriguez is known by many for his prolific 22-year career in Major League Baseball. He belted 696 home runs and collected over 3,000 hits, numbers which establish him as one of the greatest hitters in the history of the game.

Rodriguez was a 14-time All-Star and three-time American League Most Valuable Player. He established himself as a star early on, winning the AL batting title in his third season with the Seattle Mariners.

Rodriguez went on to play for the Texas Rangers and New York Yankees, winning a World Series in pinstripes in 2009. He currently is one of the most successful broadcasters from the sports world, working for ESPN, Fox Sports and other outlets.
