Tyson Gay

Tyson Gay is currently the fastest man in America and tied for 2nd fastest all-time in international competition. In 2007, Gay swept the Osaka World Championships by winning the gold in the 100 meter, 200 meter, and 4x100 meter relay, becoming just the 2nd man to complete the feat. He was a favorite to bring home gold at the 2008 Olympic Games but during the time trials, he suffered a hamstring injury that hindered his performance at the Games. He rebounded by winning a silver medal at the 2009 World Championships where he ran a 9.71 (American record) which was the fastest non-winning time in history. He also is a 4-time national champion, winning the 100-meter event 3 consecutive years (2006-2008) and the 200-meter event in 2007. At the 2012 Olympic Games, the 100-meter event was the fastest ever run and Gay fell just short of the podium with a 9.80 performance although he won his first Olympic medal later in the Games as a member of the 4x100 relay team that took home the silver.
