About Tina Thompson
Tina Thompson was the first draft pick in WNBA history, being selected No. 1 overall in 1997 by the Houston Comets. During her time with the Comets she won four WNBA Championships from 1997 to 2008. She’d go on to play two season with the Los Angeles Sparks before ending her legendary career with the Seattle Storm in 2013. Her decorated career includes nine WNBA All-Star selections and seven AllWNBA honors. In 2000 she was named the WNBA MVP after leading the Comets to their fourth consecutive championships. The WNBA was not the only place she had success though. At the 2004 and 2008 Olympic Games she led Team USA to Gold Medals and also helped them to a gold medal at the 1998 World Championships and a bronze medal at the 2006 World Championships in Brazil. During her 17-year pro basketball career she averaged 15.1 points per game and played in 42 career playoff games.
