About Cheryl Ford
As a forward for Louisiana Tech University, Cheryl Ford had a standout career from 2000-2003 where she was named the Western Athletic Conference Player of the Year in both 2002 and 2003. Following the 2003 college season, Ford was drafted with the #3 overall pick in the WNBA Draft by the Detroit Shock. Ford made an immediate impact on the Shock, taking the team from the worst WNBA record to the WNBA Championship and a WNBA Rookie of the Year Title. From 2003-2009, Ford was selected to 4 All-Star Games while winning 3 WNBA Championships as well as 2 WNBA Rebounding Crowns. Throughout that span, Ford fell just short of averaging a career double-double with 10.8 ppg and 9.7 rpg. After departing from Detroit, Ford spent several seasons in European Leagues before returning to the WNBA in 2013 with the New York Liberty for one season.
