About Terry Collins
Terry Collins is a retired MLB manager, who most recently piloted the New York Mets. After a playing career in which he never broke into the Majors, Collins officially retired in 1984, having already served as a minor league manager and wanting to pursue the coaching position. Collins was given his first shot as an MLB manager in 1993 with the Houston Astros, coaching three seasons and never finishing worse than second place. After a late season collapse in the 1996 season, Collins was fired by the Astros. Almost immediately, Collins was hired as the next manager of the Anaheim Angels, but resigned late in the season after the players filed a petition to fire him. Collins would go on to coach in various leagues overseas, eventually returning to the MLB with the Mets in 2010. The high watermark of his tenure came in 2015, when he led the Mets to a National League East Division title and World Series appearance.
