About Taylor Twellman
Taylor Twellman is a retired American soccer player. Twellman played his entire career for twoclub teams, and also represented the United Stateson their national team throughout hiscareer. When Twellman graduated high school, his athleticism earned him a contract offer fromthe Kansas City Royals baseball team, an offer he would turn down to attend the University ofMaryland on scholarship. After two seasons with Maryland in which Twellman would win All-American honors and the MAC Player of the Year award, he decided to turn pro, signing withGerman soccer club 1860 Munich in 1999. However, Twellman couldn’t break the startinglineup for Munich, and he decided to head back to America, where he was drafted secondoverall by the New England Revolution in the 2002 MLS Draft. Twellman would go on todominate the MLS for the next eight seasons, winning a Golden Boot, a championship, andmany other awards. Although he never made it to theWorld Cup Roster, Twellman wouldappear in thirty games for the United States National team, scoring six goals until concussionsforced him into retirement from soccer in 2010
