About Steven Gerrard
Steven Gerrard is one of the all-time greats to have played for Liverpool. Born in May of 1980 in Whiston, Merseyside, England, Gerrard has played midfielder, specifically center midfield, all his life. He currently plays for Liverpool FC and has been captain of the team since 2003. In fact, Gerrard captained Liverpool FC to champion success only two years after becoming captain. While Gerrard’s talents have always been wanted by Chelsea, his loyalty has displayed itself as he refuses to leave Liverpool, the team he loves and captains. In 2006, Gerard played for England in the FIFA World Cup and scored two goals. He captained the team through the 2010 and 2014 FIFA World Cups, earning him the nickname “Captain Fantastic”. Widely considered to be one of the best English footballers of his generation, Gerard certainly lives up to his nickname. Gerard makes his country proud each and every day both on and off the field; he is currently third in the country’s all time appearance list.
