Steve Yeager was one of the Los Angeles Dodgers fan favorites of his era. He spent 14 of his 15 major league seasons with the Dodgers, originally debuting with the club in 1974. Los Angeles reached the World Series four times with Yeager, but his last Fall Classic was certainly the most memorable. He helped get the Dodgers over the championship hump in 1981 by hitting two home runs during the Series, including the game-winner in Game 5 against the New York Yankees. Throughout his career, Yeager was regarded as one of the better defensive catchers in the game. He led the National League in catcher assists in 1976 and finished runner-up for the 1977 Gold Glove. Yeager also was first in the NL twice in baserunners caught stealing percentage. He spent the 1986 season with the Seattle Mariners before retiring. After his career, he coached the Dodgers catchers from 2002-2018.
