Steve Smith Sr. Biography

Steve Smith Sr. was one of the best wide receivers in the NFL during his 16-year career. Smith forged a legacy during the first 13 seasons of that run with the Carolina Panthers, ending as the franchise leader in all major receiving categories.  

Smith was a three-time All-Pro and five-time Pro Bowler while playing for Carolina. He finished his career spending three seasons with the Baltimore Ravens and tallied 1,031 receptions for 14,731 yards and 81 touchdowns. Smith also retired seventh in NFL history with 19,180 all-purpose yards.  

The Panthers originally selected Smith in the third round of the 2001 NFL Draft out of Utah. He is a Los Angeles native who now calls the Charlotte area home and top analyst for the NFL Network. He is a member of the Carolina Panthers Hall of Honor and the North Carolina Sports Hall of Fame.
