DeAngelo Williams Biography

DeAngelo Williams was one of the top running backs in the National Football League while with the Carolina Panthers. He was a first-round selection in 2006 out of the University of Memphis. While playing at Memphis he broke the NCAA career record for most 100-yard rushing games with 34 and also tallied the fourth most rushing yards of all-time with 6,026 yards. After earning First-Team All-American honors in 2004 and 2005 he was awarded the inaugural ARA Sportsmanship Award for his sportsmanship both on and off the field while playing for the Tigers. In 2006 he joined the Panthers as the face of their franchise and has since become their franchise’s all-time leader in rushing yards, rushing touchdowns and rushing attempts. In 2008 he led the NFL with 18 touchdowns and was named a second-team All-Pro. The following year he earned Pro-Bowl honors after posting his second consecutive 1,000-yard rushing season.
