About Steve Largent
Pro Football Hall of Famer, Steve Largent, is the epitome of an American hero. After his 14-year career in the NFL he served his country in the United States House of Representatives as a republican rep for the state of Oklahoma. He’d go on to serve in the House for 8 years from 1994 to 2002.
During his days at the University of Tulsa Largent was an All-American wide receiver, but despite his decorated collegiate career he was not selected until the fourth round of the 1976 NFL Draft. That was no matter to Largent however, as he’d work his way into a starting role for the Seahawks and earn seven Pro-Bowl appearances over the next 14 seasons. At the time of his retirement in 1989 he held NFL career records for most receptions, receiving yards and touchdown receptions with 100, making him the first wide receiver in NFL history score 100 touchdowns.
For the spirit, dedication and integrity he displayed during his career the NFL created the Steve Largent Award in his honor. After his career in football and politics he became President of CTIA-The Wireless Association, where he remained until 2013. Largent is a man of distinction and character, rarely found this day in age.
