About Sterling Sharpe
Sterling Sharpe, most commonly known as number 84 for the Green Bay Packers, is said to have one of the worst career-ending injuries there was. After being raised by his grandmother in Glennville, Georgia, he went on to play as a wide receiver for the University of South Carolina. During his time there, Sharpe set two since-broken records of 17 career touchdowns and 11 receiving touchdowns. Sharpe went on to be picked in the first found by the Green Bay Packers in 1988. As a rookie, he caught 55 passes and started in 16 games. Throughout his six seasons for the Green Bay Packers, Sharpe certainly made a name for himself, leading the NFL in touchdowns in 1992 and 1994 and in receptions in 1989, 1992, and 1993. He was an All-Pro five of those six seasons. Sadly, Sharpe was forced to retire in 1994 due to a severe neck injury in the last two games of the season, damaging the top two vertebrae and going down in history as one of the worst career-ending injuries. In retirement, he spent time working as a broadcaster for CBS Sports.
