About Sophia Young
Sophia Young is a professional guard in the WNBA. Young attended Baylor University where he was named an All-American and she helped bring the Lady Bears to their first national championship at the 2005 NCAA Women’s Division I Basketball Tournament when they defeated Michigan State. Young won many awards and honors during her time at Baylor including, Big 12 Player of the Year, she made the Big 12 Championship All-Tournament Team three years in a row, and she was an AP All-American. The San Antonio Silver Stars selected Young in the first round as the 4th overall pick in the 2006 WNBA Draft. During her rookie year with the Silver Stars, Young was named to the Western Conference WNBA All-Star team. Young was one of 21 finalists for the US Women’s Olympic Basketball Team roster for the 2010-12 cycle. The team was selected by the USA Basketball Women’s National Team Player Selection Committee to represent the USA at the 2012 Olympics. Young was also named to the national team training pool for the 2014-16 cycle.
