About Sonny Cumbie
Sonny Cumbie has long been regarded as one of the top offensive coaches in college football. At Louisiana Tech, he has the opportunity to lead the Bulldogs program to new heights. Cumbie has served as an offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at his alma mater, Texas Tech, and TCU. Cumbie also went 2-3 as the interim head coach of the Red Raiders in 2021. After a brief professional playing career, he jumped into coaching in Arena Football as the head coach of the San Angelo Stampede Express in 2009. Cumbie landed back in the college ranks as a graduate assistant at Texas Tech that same year. As a Red Raiders quarterback, he led the country in passing yards and total offense in 2004. The team finished 8-4, ranked in the top 25 and Cumbie was named MVP of the Holiday Bowl.
