About Sasha Cohen
After taking lessons as a gymnast early in her childhood, Sasha Cohen took up figure skating at the age of 7 and quickly turned her focus to the sport. At the 2000 U.S. Championships, 16 year old Sasha rose to power with a first place finish in the short program and a second place overall finish. After a second silver medal in the 2002 U.S. Championships, Cohen qualified and competed in her first Olympic Games, finishing 4th. She rebounded the following year by taking home a Gold Medal at the 2003 Grand Prix Final and the following year won silver at both the U.S. Championships and the World Championships. In the 2006 season, Cohen won her first gold medal at the U.S. Championships which earned her a spot at her second Olympic Games where she finished with the silver medal. Sasha has since returned to school to finish her degree and in 2006 released her autobiography, Fire on Ice.
