About Rod Carey
Rod Carey is a football coach and former player. Carey attended Indiana University where he played football at the center position. Carey graduated from Indiana in 1993, going on to begin his coaching career at Wayzata High School as the assistant coach in 1994. Carey coached at the high school level until moving to Wisconsin-Stout where he was the offensive coordinator and offensive line coach for seven years until making another move to Illinois State, then North Dakota. Finally, Carey came to Northern Illinois and he was promoted to become the head coach in 2012. He racked up a 52-30 record in seven seasons guiding the Huskies. Carey led NIU to two double-digit win seasons, two Mid-American Conference titles and he was named MAC Coach of the Year in 2013. Seeking a new challenge, he decided to head to the northeast and take over the Temple program in 2019.
