About Rich Gannon
Rich Gannon’s NFL story is all about perseverance.It took 11 years into his pro career for Gannon to find the franchise where he would achieve his greatest success. He made four straight Pro Bowls and was a two-time first-team All-Pro with the Oakland Raiders.In 2002, Gannon led the NFL in passing yards, won the MVP Award, and took the Raiders to the Super Bowl.
When the New England Patriots drafted Gannon in 1987, they wanted to make him a running back. He would go on to play the first six seasons of his career for the Minnesota Vikings and helped the team to an 11-5 record in his last year with them. Gannon also played for the Kansas City Chiefs and Washington Redskins before finding his home in Oakland.
After retiring in 2004, Gannon went into a career in broadcasting, spending 16 years with CBS Sports.
