Renee Powell Biography

Renee Powell made history in 1967 as just the second African-American woman to play on the LPGA Tour. She spent 14 years on the tour and played in over 250 professional golf tournaments. She won the Kelly Springfield Open in Australia. Prior to turning pro, Powell spent time as a collegiate golfer at Ohio University and Ohio State University. After her professional golf career, she became the head professional at her family's Clearview Golf Club. In 2015, Powell made history again by becoming one of the first female members of the Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St. Andrews. She was inducted into the PGA of America Hall of Fame in 2017.
