About Rachel Balkovec
Rachel Balkovec has made baseball history as the first woman to be a full-time hitting coach and manager in the professional ranks. Balkovec was hired in 2019 by the New York Yankees to coach in their minor league system. In 2022, she was promoted to manager their Low-A affiliate, the Tampa Tarpons. She has a diverse background in both hitting and strength and fitness. Balkovec started in the minor leagues with the Johnson City Cardinals in 2012. She was named Appalachian League Strength Coach of the Year and became the first woman in baseball to ever be named strength and conditioning coordinator. Balkovec later moved on the Houston Astros organization, serving as their Latin American strength and conditioning coach before taking over in that role at Double-A Corpus Christi. She started working with hitters when she moved to the Netherlands and assisted the national baseball and softball teams. Prior to joining the Yankees. Balkovec had a fellowship with Driveline Baseball studying hitters eye tracking and pitchers hip movement. In addition to all her impressive experience, she also has a bachelor's degree in excercise science from New Mexico, a master's in kinesiology from LSU and a master's in human movement sciences from Vrije University.
