About Julie Croteau
Julie Croteau is one of the most significant female pioneers in baseball history. Croteau first garnered headlines for suing her high school in an attempt to be allowed to play on the boys baseball team in 1988. While she lost that battle, she soon suited up for Division III St. Mary's College of Maryland, making her the first woman to ever play NCAA baseball. Croteau went on to break barriers as the first NCAA baseball coach as well, first at Western New England University and later for the Division 1 program, the University of Massachusetts. Croteau also played professional women's baseball and with men in the Hawaiian Winter Baseball League. She won two gold medals at the Women's World Cup of Baseball as a third base coach and then manager for Team USA. Croteau also was a double in the iconic filming of a League of Their Own. She currently works as the Director of Communications at Stanford University's Health Improvement Program.
