Pete Incaviglia

Pete Incaviglia hit 206 home runs over 12 major league seasons.  Incaviglia had a prodigious college career and thus never played a game in the minor leagues.  In his rookie season, he hit 30 home runs and would hit at least 20 in each of his first five seasons with the Texas Rangers.  Incaviglia would bounce around the rest of his career with various franchises.  With the 1993 Philadelphia Phillies, his career was revived as the team reached the World Series.  Incaviglia hit .274 with 24 home runs and a career-high 89 RBIs.  When he entered the major leagues, he was traded from the Montreal Expos to the Rangers and the MLB had to institute a new rule.  The “Pete Incaviglia Rule” states that a player has to be with his organization for at least one year after they drafted him.  Incaviglia started the craze by setting the NCAA home run record with 48 home runs during his junior year and his 100 career dingers are also a record.  Oklahoma State made the College World Series in each of his three years and he was elected to the College Baseball Hall of Fame in 2007.  Incaviglia is currently a manager in independent league baseball.
