Pat Burrell is a former MLB outfielder, most known for his time spent with the Philadelphia Phillies.Burrell was initially drafted by theBoston Red Sox out of high school, but he chose to attend theUniversity of Miami, winning multiple All-American honors as well as the Golden Spikes Award in hisfinal season for being the best NCAA baseball player. The Philadelphia Phillies selected Burrell with thefirst overall pick of the 1998 MLB Draft, signing him to a seven year deal. After two seasons in the minorleagues, Burrell made his MLB debut on May 23, 2000 against the Houston Astros, recording two hitsand two RBI in a victory. Burrell would go on to be a mainstay in the Phillies lineup for nine season, andwas an essential piece to the Phillies’ 2008 World Series run. Prior to the 2009 season, Burrell signed atwo year deal with the Tampa Bay Rays, setting career lows in his only season with the team. After beingdesignated for assignment, Burrell cleared waivers and was signed to the San Francisco Giants, where hehelped them win the 2010 World Series. Burrell was not signed by a team for the next season, andofficially retired as a Phillie in 2012.
