Novak Djokovic

Novak Djokovic is a professional tennis player who is considered to be one of the best tennis players of all time. Djokovic began playing tennis at four years old. At six, Yugoslav tennis player Jelena Gencic spotted Djokovic. Djokovic spent six years with Gencic before she realized that going abroad to find an increased level of competition would benefit Djokovic. At fourteen, Djokovic began his international career, where he won European championships in singles, doubles, and team competition. Djokovic won his first ATP title at the Dutch Open in Amersfoort without losing a set in 2006. He competed in the 2008 Summer Olympics with Nenad Zimonjic and the seeded second in men’s doubles, but were eliminated in the first round, Djokovic defeated James Blake in the bronze medal singles match. He has won 7 Grand Slam singles titles and he has won 20 Masters 1000 series titles. Djokovic is the first male player representing Serbia to win a Grand Slam singles title. The Association of Tennis Professionals currently ranks Djokovic World No. 1.
