Nicolas Mahut

Nicolas Mahut is a French tennis player who is well known for having a penchant for grass court tennis. Mahut first trained at the Beaucouze tennis club at the age of five and at eleven, Mahut joined a tennis club in Paris. In 1998, Mahut was the champion of France for 15-and-16 year olds and the 17-and-18 year olds. The following year, Mahut won the Orange Bowl doubles title. Mahut was also the winner of the Sunshine Cup, the 35th Coffee Bowl and the Coupe Galea-Valerio. He won the 2000 Wimbledon Championships Boys’ Singles, the 2000 Australian Open Boys’ Doubles and the 1999 US Open Boys’ Doubles. Mahut recorded his first ATP Tour-level win when he defeated world no. 121 Neville Godwin from South Africa. At the French Open, Mahut lost in the first round to world no. 122 Michael Russell. In 2007, Mahut was a finalist at the Queen’s Club Championship, but he lost in three sets to Andy Roddick. Mahut received a wildcard for the 2013 Hall of Fame Tennis Championships and he went on to win the title.
