Nick Symmonds

Nick Symmonds is an American middle-distance track athlete who specializes in the 800 meters and 1500 meters distances. During high school, Symmonds won state championships in the 800m, 1600m, and 3200m individual races and on the 4x 400 m relay. Symmonds attended Willamette University where he won the 800 NCAA championship race all four years and the 1500 NCAA championship race as a freshman, junior and senior. After college, he joined the Oregon Track Club Elite. Symmonds was the runner-up at the AT&T USA Outdoor Track and Field Championship in the 800m race in 2006. The following year, he won the 800m race at the Prefontaine Classic meet in Oregon. In 2008, he won the United States Olympic Trials 800m final held in Eugene, Oregon. This win qualified him for the U.S. Olympic Team for the 2008 Summer Olympics for the 800m race. Symmonds won the USATF Championships in 2009, which qualified him to represent the United States at the World Championships. In 2012, Symmonds returned to the 2012 United States Olympic Trials where he made his second Olympic Team.
