About Mike Tice
Mike Tice had a distinguished career spanning over three decades as an NFL player and coach. Tice first played college football at Maryland before spending 11 seasons as a tight end in the NFL with the Seattle Seahawks, Washington Redskins and Minnesota Vikings. Following his retirement from the Vikings in 1995, he immediately joined their coaching staff, coaching tight ends for one season and the offensive line from 1997-2001. Tice was named interim head coach in 2001 and took over the full-time job in 2002. In four seasons, he finished with a 32-33 record and one playoff appearance. Tice's teams finished second in the NFC North Division each year. In 2002, the Vikings led the NFL in rushing and, in 2003, they led the league in total offense. After leaving Minnesota, Tice took on assistant coaching roles with the Jacksonville Jaguars, Chicago Bears, Atlanta Falcons and Oakland Raiders. He retired in 2018. Tice is a member of the Suffolk Sports Hall of Fame.
