About Mike Kohn
Mike Kohn was born and raised in Columbus, South Carolina and is a 2nd Lt. in the Virginia National Guard. Kohn joined the National Guard in 1999 as an infantry soldier, and went on to become a member of the National Guard Outstanding Athlete Program, which opened up an opportunity for him to get involved in the USA bobsled program. Kohn got his start in bobsledding during his high school days, and went on to compete in the 1991 Olympic Trials as the team’s youngest competitor. In 2002 he became a member of the USA Bobsled Team and won a bronze medal at the Salt Lake Winter Olympic Games. In 2006 earned an appearance on the USA Olympic Bobsled Team as an alternate and went on to help his team to a silver medal at the 2007 World Championships. In 2010 he returned to Olympic action as the driver of the USA Bobsled team. Since retiring from the sport in 2010 he has served as a coach for the U.S. development athletes on the America’s Cup tour.
