About Mickey Rivers
Mickey Rivers had a 15-year career in the major leagues, but he is best remembered for a five-year run with the New York Yankees. Rivers was a speedy outfielder throughout his time in baseball and he debuted with the California Angels in 1970. While with the Angels, he led the American League in triples in 1974 and 1975. Rivers also paced the AL with 70 stolen bases in 1975. He joined the Yankees in 1976 and went on to his first and only All-Star appearance. That season, Rivers hit .312 with 43 steals and finished third in AL MVP voting. He remained steady for New York and helped them win the World Series in 1977 and 1978. He finished his career playing six years with the Texas Rangers.
