About Mick Cronin
Mick Cronin grew up in Cincinnati, Ohio and got his start coaching basketball at Woodward High School in 199. From 1991 to 1996 he served as the head JV and assistant varsity coach and led his junior varsity team to a 57-3 record and three city championships in three seasons. After earning his degree in history from the University of Cincinnati in 1996 he joined the Bearcats coaching staff as a video coordinator during the 1996-97 season. The following year he was hired as a fulltime assistant coach and held that position until being hired as the associate head coach and recruiting coordinator at the University of Louisville in 2001. In 2003 he was named Athlon Assistant Coach of the Year and earned his first head-coaching job at Murray State University. From 2003 to 2006 he led Murray State to a 69-24 overall record, an Ohio Valley Conference regular season championship in 2006 and two OVC Tournament championships in 2004 and 2006. Upon being named the OVC Coach of the Year in 2006 he returned to the University of Cincinnati as the Bearcats new head coach. He led his alma mater to 296 wins in 13 seasons. Cronin's Bearcats made nine straight trips to the NCAA Tournament. They also won two AAC regular season and tournament titles. In 2019, he took one of the prestigious jobs in college basketball, becoming the new head coach of the UCLA Bruins.
