About Michael Brantley
Michael Brantley was one of the most talented outfielders in baseball during his 15-year career in Major League Baseball. Brantley was a five-time All-Star who spent the first decade with the Cleveland Indians and went on to appear in two World Series with the Houston Astros.
In 2014, Brantley had his breakout year while in Cleveland, hitting .327 with 20 home runs and 97 RBI on the way to Silver Slugger honors.He also made his first All-Star team and finished third in the American League MVP voting.Brantley consistently hit for the Indians since coming up to the big leagues in 2009. A Cleveland sportswriter originally gave him the nickname “Dr. Smooth” and it stuck.He was originally acquired as the player to be named later in the C.C. Sabathia trade with the Milwaukee Brewers.
The Brewers selected Brantley in the seventh round of the 2005 MLB Draft. He went to Central High School in Fort Pierce, Florida. Brantley’s father, Mickey, played four seasons in the majors for the Seattle Mariners.
