About Matthew Stafford
Matthew Stafford is the quarterback for the Los Angeles Rams of the NFL. Stafford attended the University of Georgia where he became the first true freshman to start for the Bulldogs since 1998. As a freshman, Mel Kiper, Jr. made an announcement that “Matthew Stafford will eventually be No. 1 pick in the NFL Draft.” Stafford completed his freshman year with a comeback win against Virginia Tech in the Chick-fil-a Bowl. As a sophomore, Stafford led the Bulldogs to win the 2008 Sugar Bowl. Stafford decided to forgo his senior year at Georgia and enter the 2009 NFL Draft. Mel Kiper, Jr. was right on his quote as the Detroit Lions selected Stafford as the first overall pick in the 2009 NFL Draft. In 12 seasons with the Lions, he became one of the most prodigious passers in league history and was the fastest player to ever eclipse 40,000 passing yards. Some of his most notable achievements include being named NFL Comeback Player of the Year in 2011, earning a Pro Bowl spot in 2010 and setting a league record with eight fourth-quarter comebacks in 2016. Stafford was traded to the Rams in 2021, but he is inarguably the greatest quarterback in Lions history.
