About Matt Hamill
Matt “The Hammer” Hamill is a deaf amateur wrestler and mixed martial artist. Hamill was introduced to wrestling by his grandfather. Hamill attended Purdue University for a year before he switched to the Rochester Institute of Technology for three years. Hamill’s MMA career began when he was a contestant on The Ultimate Fighter 3, a reality TV show. On June 24, 2006, Hamill fought Jesse Forbes on The Ultimate Fighter 3 Finale and won by knockout. Hamill fought Rex Holman at UFC 68: The Uprising where he won by TKO. So far in his MMA career, Hamill has fought in a total of 16 fights and won 11 of them. He is also a purple belt in Brazilian jiujitsu. In May 2014, Hamill signed with World Series of Fighting, but nagging injuries caused Hamill to retire for the second time in his career. Hamill is the subject of the movie The Hammer, which is about his early life and wrestling career.
