Matt Asiata

Matt Asiata was born on July 24, 1987 and is of Samoan decent. Asiata attended Hunter High School where he was a standout running back. As a freshman, Asiata and the Wolverines won the UHSAA Class 5A football championship. After high school, Asiata attended the University of Utah where he continued to play football. In Asiata’s first collegiate game he broke his ankle against Oregon State. In 2008, Asiata was the leading rusher at Utah and he helped the Wolverines go undefeated and win the 2009 Sugar Bowl against Alabama. After college, Asiata went undrafted in the 2011 draft and signed with the Omaha Nighthawks where he spent one season. In 2011, Asiata signed with the Minnesota Vikings, but he was cut during the final cuts and placed on the practice squad. In September 2011, he was cut from the practice squad and resigned in January 2012. On December 15, 2013, Asiata rushed for his first NFL touchdown.
