About Mathias Kiwanuka
Mathias Kiwanuka was born on March 8, 1963 in Indianapolis, Indiana. Kiwanuka attended Boston College where he played in a total of 49 games and started in 38. Kiwanuka was regarded as one of the best pass rushing defensive ends in college. In 2003 and 2004, Kiwanuka led the Big East Conference in sacks and in 2005 he was named an All-American. During his time at Boston College, Kiwanuka was a 2x Firstteam All-American, 2x First-team All-Big East, First-team All-Atlantic Coast Conference and Big East Defensive Player of the Year. The New York Giants selected Kiwanuka in the 1st round as the 32nd pick in the 2006 NFL Draft. Kiwanuka spent his first year with the Giants playing as a defensive end, but his position switched to linebacker in 2007. In April 2012, Kiwanuka’s contract was extended for 3-years with $10.5 million guaranteed. In 2011, Kiwanuka won the Ed Block Courage Award and he is a 2x NFC champion with the Giants as well as a 2x Super Bowl Champion.
