Mark May is spoken of with very high regards from the best of today’s football analysts as he was a remarkable former Pro Bowl lineman. As a multi-talented athlete growing up in Oneonta, New York, May graduated from Oneonta High School with notable accomplishments in football, basketball, and track and a commitment to play for the Pittsburgh Panthers football team at the University of Pittsburgh. The university ultimately came to retire May’s jersey number (73) as he went on to be selected in the first round of the 1981 NFL Draft by the Washington Redskins. Playing his first ten seasons with them, May obtained two SuperBowl victories throughout this time and was also named one of the 70 Greatest Washington Redskins of all time. Retiring from the sport in 1993 after two seasons with the Phoenix Cardinals, May returned to the University of Pittsburgh just a year later to serve as a color commentator for his alma mater and commence his career in broadcasting. May is also known for his outstanding games started to games played ratio in the NFL, which was an impressive 141 out of 158.
